The Big Blue
Eco Booster Project

The Big Blue Eco Booster Project was set up by Wave in partnership with leading energy, water and carbon reduction specialist, SaveMoneyCutCarbon. Their goal was to help wholesalers across the UK find ways to make an impact and reduce water usage in business premises and schools felt like the perfect fit. Not only are they home to the next generation but budgets can be tight so every penny counts. Over the next few years, the project aims to help schools and academies across England, Scotland and Wales save 2 million m3 of water and your school can take part.

It’s free for schools in these wholesale regions

If your school is served by any of the following wholesalers, they’ve already committed funding which means you could be entitled to a free Water Saving Visit:

  • Northumbrian Water
  • Essex and Suffolk Water
  • Anglian Water
  • Portsmouth Water
  • United Utilities
  • Cambridge Water
  • South East Water

What to expect from a school’s water saving visit

As a Water Efficiency Services customer, we can refer your school into the project, helping you take advantage of this free regional offer (usually £1,200). By taking up, your school will receive a visit from a SaveMoneyCutCarbon plumber who will:

  • Look for leaks or fixtures and fittings that may be wasting water, including toilets, taps, showers and urinals.
  • Provide helpful suggestions on how equipment can be upgraded.
  • Offer guidance on where to make investments, the savings available and payback potential.
  • Make any quick upgrades they can on the day, for free and without disrupting the school day.

On the day

  • Someone must be available to guide the plumber around the site.
  • Allow time at the end of the day to discuss findings and suggested changes.
  • The school receives a Big Blue Eco Booster award and posters to encourage children to save water.

Afterwards, the school will receive a written report, which will be discussed at a convenient time by phone or video call.
